“New Pokémon Title Sold Record 2.55mn Copies In 1st Week!”

“OSAKA (Nikkei)–Nintendo Co. (7974) affiliate Pokémon Co. said Wednesday that its latest title in the “Pokémon” video game series sold 2.55 million copies in its first week on the market.
The robust sales mark a first-week record for any game released for the Nintendo DS handheld game machine.
Pre-release orders for “Pokémon Black” and “Pokémon White” reached 1.88 million copies.
The game is the first addition to the “Pokémon” series since the release four years ago of “Pokémon Diamond & Pearl,” which has sold more than 17.15 million copies.

The all-new release of Pokémon Black and Pokémon White hit stores in Japan on the 18th of September. With such a huge reaction from consumers in Japan already, we can predict a similar response as it arrives in Australia next year in March!
