More than 600 Duelists from all over Oceania made their way to Sydney to become the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series winner. Oceania’s strongest Duelists were all competing at the ANZ Stadium on December 13th and 14th but only one would become champion. After multiple rounds of high-level play over two days, Australia’s Peter Mitro was declared the victorious Duelist, becoming the latest player to triumph on the international stage.

Mitro and his Shaddoll Deck squared off against China’s Xiaoyu Dai in an enthralling Final Match on the Sunday evening. Although Dai showed tremendous skill throughout the weekend, besting several opponents, his Shaddoll Deck was ultimately defeated by Mitro’s, as Mystical Space Typhoon was played to win the final Duel of the event.

Mitro is now the latest Duelist to call himself the victor of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG’s travelling event series. In addition to claiming the title of YCS winner, he takes home a prize package that included a Notebook PC, exclusive YCS Prize Card and paid travel and accommodation to the 2015 WCQ: Oceanic Championship.

For those who did not participate in the main tournament; there were several other events to take part in throughout the weekend, including tournaments to win giant Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, Game Mats and other popular prizes, such as additional copies of the YCS Prize Card Ascension Sky Dragon.

This was Sydney’s second Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament of 2014. The first event, held in January of this year, was the largest Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG event ever held in Australia, drawing in competitors from all over Asia and Oceania. The benefits of bringing the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series to the Oceanic region were felt all year, with tournament attendances increasing across Australia and New Zealand.
